Rastra Dharma Rakshak : A Denunciation

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           JUNE 17 , 2013           00.30 A.M.

“I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it .”  – Voltaire

I was closely following the political turmoil which gripped BJP after its Goa National executive Committee meet . I was particularly peeved when some disgruntled youth protested in front of Advaniji’s house in New Delhi . The banners they used informed us that they belonged to a little known organization called Modi Sena .

One can draw the inference that officially BJP or Shri Narendra Modi has nothing to do with it . But I remember one more protest of the same nature against Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee . When there was a rebellion against Shri Keshu Bhai Patel , Atalji went to Gandhi Nagar to broker peace . Keshu Bhai Patel was removed and Suresh Mehta was anointed as Chief Minister of Gujarat . There were protests against Atalji . When he was heading for airport , his car was gheraoed by few slogan shouting youth . At that time also protesters shouted obscene slogans against him . At that time also we were informed that they were some disgruntled youth and they don’t belong to the party . And we believed .

But some disgruntled youth again appeared and shouted slogans against Advaniji . Coincidence can’t happen again and again . Who is responsible for this act . How come few disgruntled youth appear on the scene when something happens which is not liked by someone . And yes , they have audacity to protest against Atalji and Advaniji and that too with impunity .

Apart from the protesting disgruntled youth , there is one organization called Rastra Dharma Rakshak also in the arena . If you write or say anything against a leader which is not liked by them , they will hurl abuses and post extremely obscene comments on facebook . You can visit their facebook page to get first hand knowledge :

http://www.facebook.com/hindudharma.rakshak

I am curious to know about the Rastra Dharma Rakshak and Shri Dhiraj Desmukh , who seems to be heading this organization . They proclaim to admire Shri Anna Hazare , Baba Ramdev and Shri Narendra Modi . But in order to admire above mentioned great personalities , you need not ridicule or insult the other ones .

Previously they used to post obscene comments and insulting  pictures of Shri Manmohan Singh and Shrimati Sonia Gandhi . In democracy you can oppose any person or leader and even criticize them . But it should be done in a decent , civilized way . To Photoshop any leader’s photo and then posting it on social networking sites is unethical .

Their bent of  mind is puzzling . Is it necessary to support everyone whom they support ? Are we duty bound to acquiesce to their dictates ? If it is so , is it good for democracy ? Or it is democracy at all ?

If Advaniji says that he is not well , so he is not well . If he doesn’t want to go to a particular meet , it is his choice . He doesn’t need Rastra Dharma Rakshak’s nod for that or their permission to skip the meet . Any one wanting to know their bent of mind can send them friend request on facebook and see what they write . It is filthy . It is vulgar . It is uncouth . It is demeaning to even reproduce those postings here .

Shri Lal Krishan Advani

Yesterday the man to be abused was Shri Lal Krishan Advani . Today the goal-post has changed . It is now turn of Shri Nitish Kumar . I also wish that in the interest of the nation BJP and JD ( U ) should work together . But if  JD ( U ) wants to break the relationship , it is their choice . But all of a sudden according to Rastra Dharma Rakshak , Nitish Kumar is supposed to be getting money from Pakistan . May I demand to know  why was it not reported earlier ?

In politics it is your right to criticise . But to rebuke , ridicule or insult is neither your right or your prerogative .

I denounce Rastra Dharma Rakshak . They have no place in democracy . Their autocratic behaviour poses dangerous signal . I do respect Shri Anna Hazare , Shri Narendra Modi and Baba Ramdev . But I won’t allow myself to be forced to like or admire them . In fact years ago , when the embers of Gujarat riots were still hot and burning , I wrote two blog post in support of Shri Narendra Modi . Anyone can visit the Political Category of my blog post and can read the blogs .

1 – In Defence of Narendra Modi : March 24 , 2010

2 – Narendra Modi & His Detractors : December 20 , 2012

There was another post which I wrote when Kokrajhar riots happened :

1 – Kokrajhat & Tyranny of Distance : September 06 , 2012

But I refused to be dictated by Rastra Dharma Rakshak and its patron Shri Dhiraj Desmukh . To admire Shri Narendra Modi , I need not be ridiculing Shri Advaniji . As I have written in the beginning :

“I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it .”  – Voltaire

If it is right of Rastra Dharma Rakshakt to admire someone , then it applies to me also . They cannot dictate terms or force me into subjugation . I may be small . I may be alone . I may be in minority but I still have the mind of my own which refuses to be cowed down by a Rastra Dharma Rakshak . I finish my blog by remembering a poem written by Dr. Dharam Vir Bharti .

Thinking About Advaniji !!

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           JUNE 13 , 2013           01.15 A.M.

On June 10 , 2013 , while sitting in my institute’s office , I suddenly heard a TV anchor’s voice . He said , ” Lal Krishna Advani resigns from all the posts of Bharatiya Janata Party [ BJP ] .”

English: cropped photograph of L K Advani with...

Shri Lal Krishna Advani outside his residence. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I was shocked and dumbfounded . BJP without Advaniji or Advaniji without BJP is not comprehensible . I left every work and was glued to the TV set for a while . I watched the news for sometime and then started recollecting the incidents of past few days .

In BJP since almost 1 year there was a clamour for bigger role for Shri Narendra Modi . No sane person can find fault with this . But the picture was being painted as if Advaniji was against this . The fact of the matter is that Advaniji was solely responsible for Shri Narendra Modi’s elevation to the post of Chief Minister of Gujarat and he also saved Gujarat strongman from being sacked in the aftermath of Gujarat riots of 2002 . Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee wanted to remove him from the post . So how can he be against Shri Modi ?

Every BJP leader , who were assembled at Goa for the party’s National Executive Committee  meeting , took a decision to appoint Shri Narendra Modi as the Chairman of  The Campaign Committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha election . Since Advaniji didn’t attend the National Executive meet , he was painted as a villain , a greedy old man who was hankering for power and pelf. There was even a demonstration in front of his New Delhi house by some organization called Modi Sena .

I was pained by the sight . It was unbelievable and unthinkable few years back . No sane BJP worker will demonstrate against Advaniji . But some Modi Sena staged protest and instead of condemning it immediately and wholeheartedly , BJP leaders simply distanced themselves from it . That is all for this deplorable act .

Then , when asked about Advaniji’s health , BJP spokes-person Prakash Javdekar said in Goa , ” jab mausam badalta hai to log beemar pad jaate hain ” . I simply ask , is it fair ? ” …………….. mausam badalta hai ……………. ” indicates some connotation and it carries unambiguous meaning in the given present context . A Prakash Javdekar commenting like this and sarcastically taunting Advaniji , is deplorable . In my opinion it all started after the 2009 Lok Sabha defeat .

The then former Goa chief minister Shri Manohar Parrikar reportedly told a local news channel Prudent Media, “Pickle tastes good when it is left to mature for a year. But if you keep it for more than two years, it turns rancid…Advaniji’s period is more or less over. Another couple of years and after that he should act as a guardian or mentor for the party.  It’s like Sachin Tendulkar.  However mature an innings he may play, he will have to stop playing sometime.”

Parrikar said though he respected Advani for his integrity, the party should give importance to younger leaders. “I am not against elders, but the BJP should give prominence to leaders who are between 40 and 60 years.”

[ I have taken this above quoted piece from DNA of September 22 , 2009 . ]

Therefore there seems to be a conspiracy against Advaniji . I think that is the reason he took a painful decision of resigning from the Bharatiya Janata Party , which he nurtured whole of his life . He resigned on Monday , that is on June 10 , 2013 .

What followed afterwords is more sinful and shameful . Verbal abuse on twitter was unleashed . Obnoxious postings on facebook by some Rastra Dharma Rakshak and it’s patron Dhiraj Desmukh started with ferocity . This Rastra Dharma Rakshak supports Shri Narendra Modi and posts obscene comments about  Advaniji . Some comments are not even worthy of writing . Again a deafening silence by BJP on such posts is baffling .

A day after his resignation , when efforts were on to persuade Advaniji to take back his resignation , a certain  Prabhat Jha , the vice Prsident of BJP , said that one individual is not above the party . In fact this sermon is being dished out from several other sources also . Can I ask why the party was not above the individual when it got just 2 seats in 1984 ? From 2 seats in 1984 to a first BJP led government in 1998 , and to 182 seats in 1999 , Advaniji worked tirelessly . May I know why party was not above the individual in those momentous but dark and futureless 14 /15 years ?

He is accused to be driven by personal agenda . From 2 seats to 182 seats , from a party on the periphery , to the ruling party at the centre , he led BJP to unimaginable glories and when the clamour for him to become the Prime Minister was reaching a crescendo , he proposed Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s name . And the same person is now called by some minions and upstarts as driven by ambition and self – agenda .

Corrected few errors.

Map of Indian Provinces as Ruled by Political Parties (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Even today BJP rules 4 provinces [ Gujarat , Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh and Goa ] on its own and 3 provinces [ Punjab , Bihar and Nagaland ] as dominant coalition partner . But votaries of new order say that BJP lost 2004 and 2009 parliamentary elections and its seat tally came down . It won only 138 seats in 2004 and 116 seats in 2009 . But such people conveniently forget the gradual ascent of the BJP . 2 seats in 1984 , 89 seats in 1989 , 120 seats in 1991 , 161 seats in 1996 , 178 seats in 1998 , 182 seats in 1999 , 138 seats in 2004 and 116 seats in 2009 . Even if seat tally came down to 116 in 2009 , it was much better than 2 seats in 1984 .

But political calculations are driven by convenience . And the current convenience is winning parliamentary elections in 2014 . And some people feel that for this task you need Shri Narendra Modi’s face .

It is absolutely fine . Every one welcomed the decision . But to anoint a new leader , you need not ridicule and mock the aging patriarch . This is India and respecting elders is our tradition . That is precisely the reason that people cutting across part line are supporting Advaniji and showing sympathy. Not only Indian National Congress but even CPI and CPI-M showed empathy towards him . Urdu press , which is not favourably dispensed towards Advaniji , was sympathetic and supportive . They called this behaviour of sidelining him unfaithfulness and betrayal of an aging senior .

I am a non entity . But I was saddened by the turn of events . I am only trying to raise my voice against the ridicule , insult and mocking of Advaniji , who is now 85 . We should not left him in the cold . To play a Balraj Madhok on him is not possible in this age of social media and if some one , driven by personal agenda , is trying to do this , he should be condemned .

I am raising my voice fully knowing that I may be in minority . But  TRUTH ALWAYS WINS .

” SATYAMEVA JAYATE NANRITAM “

NEWS LETTERI , along with my above mentioned institutions , wholeheartedly condemn the verbal attacks on Advaniji . After writing this blog I am relieved of my guilt . At least I have raised my voice against the insult being heaped on the aging patriarch of the family .

I am happy Advaniji , I am not in the list of people , who failed you at this juncture of your life .

China’s India War & Timid Congress Response

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           MAY 07 , 2013           08.30 P.M.

China’s India war of 1962 is still fresh in my memory land . Humiliation of my country is yet to get obfuscated in my sub-conscious mind . Deep scars of Chinese slap is yet to get healed in my psyche . Memory of insulting invasion of our motherland refuses to go away from my being . And again almost after 50 years same hegemonic China enacted second part of the same act in 2013 .

India China Border - Conflict Zone

India China Border – Conflict Zone

India & China - Areas of Conflict

India & China – Areas of Conflict

China , on April 15 , 2013 , intruded 19 km. into Ladakh . She is showing her ugly , belligerent and bellicose face once again . Once again Ladakh is facing the brunt of Chinese hegemony . Chinese are as brazen as ever . And the ruling party of our country , the Indian National Congress , is as pliant , as subservient , as ever . Like its tallest leader Jawahar Lal Nehru , present – day leaders of Congress are again ready for genuflection . Sovereignty of India is being compromised unabashedly .

Daulat Beg Oldie and Chumar are the latest flash points . Chinese soldiers  entered into our territory , erected tents and refused to return to their earlier position . And it is not a minor incursion . Their intrusion is 19 km deep into our Ladakh .

Minister for External Affairs , Shri Salman Khurshid , is ambivalent as usual . Government of India and our Prime Minister Shri Manmohan Singh is stoic as usual . Something is being cooking up behind our back . All of a sudden news came that Chinese withdrew from Ladakh and the face off ended . Government Of India spokesperson is saying that Chinese withdrawal from our territory is unconditional . That they voluntarily returned to the pre April 15 position . But it seems that Congress , the Indian National Congress , is playing a dirty and dangerous game .

The buzz is that our government agreed to dismantle the infrastructure in Daulat Beg Oldie sector of Ladakh . They have compromised Chumar post . This particular post overlooks Karakoram Pass . The Karakoram Pass and the Karakoram highway is the lifeline of Pakistan for Pakistan Occupied Kashmir [ POK ] . Indian army can keep vigil on troop movement and clandestine arm supply and on any Sino-Pak nefarious designs . That is the reason for the latest face off .

It is widely believed that to force India to dismantle the bunkers and Chumar watch tower , China sent her soldiers to squat on Indian soil . She showed audacious belligerence and timid Congress succumbed to the pressure and agreed to compromise Chumar post .

China withdrew from Indian soil on May 06 , 2013 . But saddest part is that India also withdrew from Indian soil . If needed , China can come again . It is not the question of China’s intrusion or withdrawal . It is question of India’s genuflection . It is question of our leaders betrayal . Since the days of HINDI CHINI BHAI BHAI  , to the day of present day economic cooperation , nothing has changed in the belligerent attitude of China or the subservient attitude of our leaders of Congress .

China has a problem with all her neighbours . Be it India in the south , be it Indo – China in south – east , be it Taiwan in the east , be it Japan in north – east or be it Mongolia in the north . China’s thirst for land and more land is unquenchable .

Jawahar Lal Nehru betrayed India in 1962 . His descendents are doing the same now . According to Nehru ,  Aksai Chin was the barren area . He infamously said , ” not a blade of grass grows there .” After 50 years his party’s foreign minister says about the Chinese tents , ” it is like acne .” Nehru’s party’s incumbent prime minister says , it is a local problem . “

We have to be careful . We have to be vigilant . Congress has history of not protecting our motherland . They are compulsive liars . They can go to any length for protecting their throne , but not the country .

According to me we should engage Japan , Mongolia , Taiwan , Vietnam and Philippines in this war against China’s hegemony and her territorial invasions .

I , on behalf of all the students and staff of VIDUR Acting Institute , which is known as Vidur’s Kreating Charakters   denounce China , her bellicose and belligerent leaders and also the spineless leaders of Congress .

Once upon a time there was a sardar known as Maharaja Ranjit Singh , who conquered Ladakh .

Alas ! Now there is a sardar known as prime minister Manmohan Singh , who compromised Ladakh .

Remembering Margaret Thatcher ; The Iron Lady

img_8024

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           APRIL 18 , 2013           10.45 P.M.

Alas !!

This is my 6th obituary in April and the month is yet to get over . I am extremely sad that in April so many luminaries from various walks of life left us for their final journey . First Hugo Chavez , then B. M. Vyas , then Ruth Prawer Jhabvala , then Roger Ebert , then P. B. Sreenivas and now Margaret Thatcher , The Iron Lady , the first and only woman Prime Minister of Great Britain also left us . Margaret Thatcher was not only the first woman Prime Minister of Britain but she was one of the longest-serving Prime Minister of the country .

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Hilda Thatcher

Baroness Thatcher

13 October 1925 – 8 April 2013

Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990.

A Soviet journalist called her the “Iron Lady“, a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.

Edward Heath appointed her Secretary of State for Education and Science in his 1970 government. In 1975, Thatcher defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership election to become Leader of the Opposition and became the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom. She became Prime Minister after winning the 1979 general election.

While in the office , Thatcher introduced a series of political and economic initiatives intended to reverse high unemployment and Britain’s struggles in the wake of the Winter of Discontent and an ongoing recession . Her political philosophy and economic policies emphasised deregulation , flexible labour markets, the privatisation of state-owned companies, and reducing the power and influence of trade unions.

The 1982 Falklands War brought a resurgence of support for her , resulting in her re-election in 1983.

Thatcher was re-elected for a third term in 1987. During this period her support for a Community Charge (popularly referred to as “poll tax”) was widely unpopular and her views on the European Community were not shared by others in her Cabinet. She resigned as Prime Minister and party leader in November 1990, after Michael Heseltine launched a challenge to her leadership.

After retiring from the Commons in 1992, she was given a life peerage as Baroness Thatcher, of Kesteven in the County of Lincolnshire, which entitled her to sit in the House of Lords.

She effectively retired from politics due to ill-health in 2002 following a stroke, and on 8 April 2013, she died of another stroke in London at the age of 87.

These days world is ravaged by the numerous small and big battles being fought in the various countries of the world . But in those comparatively peaceful days , the 1982 Falklands War is the only war , apart from Indo-China War in 1962 and Indo-Pakistan Wars in 1965 & 1971 , which I vividly remember . I started admiring Margaret Thatcher after the Falklands War .

I am not a war-monger , but I liked the way Margaret Thatcher handled the Falklands crisis . My admiration for her became stronger when I read about her bold decisions , which she took for the betterment of her country . It is not for nothing that she is admired by so many people all over the world .

It is disgusting that a microscopic minority is celebrating her death . At least they should learn to respect an old lady , who served her country to the best of her ability and served with true grit and unflinching determination .

Two images which I have posted above are in bad taste . This is not the way to treat a lady , an old lady , a dead lady . But figure bears true testimony . There were more than 4000 well-wishers clapping all along the way and there were only 200 ill-wishers showing their back and shrieking , ” witch …… witch ……… witch . I condemn these uncouth protesters .

On behalf of all the students and staff of VIDUR Acting Institute , which is known as  Vidur’s Kreating Charakters  , I offer my heartfelt condolences to the near and dear ones of Baroness Thatcher .

My acting institute is not the most famous acting school of Mumbai , or the most famous acting institute of India and or the most famous acting academy of bollywood , but I consider it my duty to offer my condolences and express my respect for the one of the greatest British leaders of our time .

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           APRIL 14 , 2013           10.40 P.M.

As the scene is becoming interesting , as the water is becoming muddy , as the temperature is rising menacingly , as the players are getting ready for a fight to finish , as leaders are being chosen to lead  , as the respective armies are getting ready to wager their lives , as the country is getting ready for a spectacular drama , as the world is watching with anxiety , let us start looking at the current scenario in our country.

Lok Sabh or parliamentary election is due in 2014 . But preparation has already started . Over the years I have watched that media ; print and electronic both – proffer some fascinating observations . Some of it becomes reality and some fail miserably . In recent times comments are being made on various social media sites also . Anonymous netizens are posting their views on micro -blogging sites and are making the scene murkier . Already precarious political scenario is becoming more unpredictable .

I will try to save all  the poll related writings till the election results are out in 2014 . It would be very interesting to read all these articles after the results are out .

Till 2014 I will keep on writing blogs and sometimes will re-produce interesting stories from various social networking sites . And will keep on doing this till Election 2014 is over . I feel that VIDUR Acting Institute , which is known as ,  Vidur’s Kreating Charakters  , is not only an acting institute , it also has some social and national duties and obligations .

I may not be running the most famous acting school of Mumbai , or the most famous acting institute of India , or the most famous acting academy of bollywood , or the most famous acting institute of the world , I may be small and very insignificant , but I thought it proper to offer my views on this important matter .

[ This blog is not entirely written by me . I have re-produced relevant tweets from the twitter-handle of Shri Raghunath AS . I am indebted and express my gratitude .]

West Bengal Needs Mamata Banerjee

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           APRIL 06 , 2013           11.40 P.M.

It is hard to defend a death . It is difficult not to sympathise with the grieving family of a 23 year – old boy Sudipto Gupta . It is suicidal to swim against the tide . It is politically wrong to support a government , which is accused by one and all , for murdering a young boy . But still there is a case in favour of Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress . Before getting swayed away by the orchestrated public outcry , before being inundated by the flood of tears of cunning comrades , pause for a moment and think properly .

The dead boy belonged to SFI [ Student Federation of India ] . This so called youth organization is affiliated to CPI-M [ Communist Party of India - Marxist ] . And it is prudent to recall that CPI-M ruled West Bengal for almost 4 decades . And then came Mamata Banerjee and she single-handedly defeated the mighty ,  invincible comrades . And the comrades are not supposed to give up power easily and willingly. Comrades are desperate to dislodge Mamata Banerjee since then .

Every politician can falter . May be Mamata Banerjee made some mistakes . But she is an elected Chief Minister of West Bengal . She should be allowed to rule for 5 years and that too peacefully. CPI-M should understand this , and if they are not willing to understand then they should be forced to see the writing on the wall . It should be drilled into their dark , empty heads .

I am forced to remember happenings from the day one , when Mamata Banerjee took charge of West Bengal . She went to inspect a hospital and the doctor on duty questioned her presence in the hospital . Is it not proper for an elected Chief Minister of a state to visit a hospital ? Should a people’s representative seek doctor’s permission before visiting a hospital ? The answer is a definite no . But CPI-M , through their committed card-holder members , wanted to show the world that Mamta Bannerjee is a persona – non – grata in her own state .

They , forgetting their own blood-drenched past , are now shedding copious tears on national television after Sudipto Gupta’s death . I could feel a sense of glee in the hearts of comrades . Apparently Sitaram Yechuri was showing grief at the demise of SFI member but he seemed to be quite pleased that at least now they have got a stick to beat the formidable foe .

Their selective amnesia should be brought in the public view . Comrades are adept in annihilating their political opponents . They have killed thousands of RSS [ Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ] workers in Kerala . They have brutally murdered their political opponents in West Bengal . Ask any CPI-M deserters . They will tell you the gruesome story . In the hinterlands of West Bengal , comrades used to hang a white sari in front of the house of the person , who voted or even participated in the political activities of opposition parties . White sari symbolised the impending widowhood to the wife of the deserter .

National media knows everything but they are myopic and inadvertently helping CPI-M . And shrewd comrades are exploiting the situation and enjoying the moment . They are shedding copious tears on the national television but in the privacy of their offices they must be having orgasm . At least no one can support West Bengal government of Mamata Banerjee on this point .

Death is sad . Death of a young man is shattering for the family . But may I ask why these comrades are on rampage since their defeat in West Bengal ? Why the comrades are not willing to wait for 5 years ? If their commitment for democracy is so unflinching , they should wait for the next general election . They should desist from unleashing their cadres on the streets and on police . When they were ruling West Bengal , it is alleged that they tried to annihilate Mamata Banerjee . They insulted her . They dragged her on the streets by catching hold of her hair . But a hypocrite like Sitaram Yetury , who is shedding tears now , was silent then . Even late Jyoti Basu , who is considered a BHADROLOK [ gentlemen ] by the media , remained a passive and silent onlooker like the mythological Dhritarashtra .

Jyoti Basu (8 July 1914 – 17 January 2010) or ...

Jyoti Basu (8 July 1914 – 17 January 2010) or Jyotirindra Basu was an Indian politician belonging to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) from West Bengal, India. He served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1977 to 2000, making him the longest-serving Chief Minister of any Indian state. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I am not from Bengal . I can’t be accused of having any personal interest in the politics of Mamata Banerjee . I am not going to gain anything by supporting her and that too at this juncture . But I know the cunning comrades . I just felt that even at this juncture India and the discerning public should know the truth and they should not be swayed away by temporary and fluid situations and emotions . It would be fatal to play in the hands of comrades . These murderers are waiting for the opportunity and we should not do anything to help them . Their dream of ruling India is shattered . Their secret wish to paint India red lies in shambles . Any effort to demonize Mamata Banerjee would be like inviting the killers in our house .

A dream never fulfilled

A dream never fulfilled (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I feel for the family of the dead boy . I sympathise with the near and dear ones . But I refuse to criticize Mamata Banerjee for this death . Because I also remember the killings and annihilation of political opponents done by the communists of India .

Police claims that Sudipto Gupta died because of accident . Comrades are crying foul . You should remember ACP Dhoble of Mumbai police . He was accused of murdering a hawker in Mumbai and was subsequently transferred . Now it is known to all after enquiry that the hawker died of cardiac arrest . What if same case is repeated in Kolkata ? Think and think properly .

Famous acting schools of Mumbai , famous acting institutes of India and the famous acting academy of bollywood have no time for such topics . My acting institute  Vidur’s Kreating Charakters  think that apart from imparting acting training , it is also our duty to make our students aware of such happenings .

Mamata Banerjee supporters

West Bengal needs Mamata Banerjee . In fact the nation needs her . And yes , we don’t need CPI-M or CPI at all . They should be consigned in the trash-bins of history .

Hugo Chavez of Venezuela

img_8024

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           MARCH 08 , 2013           03.50 P.M.

I don’t think Latin American countries attract attention of  many Indians . Even a discerning student of world history and general knowledge will find it difficult to name all the countries of the region . To know the names of the ruling presidents and prime ministers of the Latin American countries is next to impossible . But Hugo Chavez attracted attention and till his death he continuously dominated the headlines of news papers of the world .

Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías ; ( 28 July 1954 – 5 March 2013 ) was the President of Venezuela from 1999 until his death in 2013. He was formerly the leader of the Fifth Republic Movement political party from its foundation in 1997 until 2007, when it merged with several other parties to form the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), which he led until his death.

Following his own political ideology of Bolivarianism and “socialism of the 21st century“, he focused on implementing socialist reforms in the country as a part of a social project known as the Bolivarian Revolution, which has seen the implementation of a new constitution, participatory democratic councils, the nationalization of several key industries, increased government funding of health care and education, and significant reductions in poverty.Under Chavez, Venezuelans’ quality of life improved and the poverty rate fell from 48.6 percent in 2002 to 29.5 percent in 2011, according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America.

Born into a working-class family in Sabaneta, Barinas, Chávez became a career military officer, and after becoming dissatisfied with the Venezuelan political system, he founded the secretive Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200 (MBR-200) in the early 1980s to work towards overthrowing it. Chávez led the MBR-200 in an unsuccessful coup d’état against the Democratic Action government of President Carlos Andrés Pérez in 1992, for which he was imprisoned. Released from prison after two years, he founded a social democratic political party, the Fifth Republic Movement, and was elected president of Venezuela in 1998.

While I was going through the article about him in Times of India , I came to know some startling facts about Venezuela under Chavez rule .

1 – Chavez nationalized the oil industry and then used the export earnings for poverty eradication , healthcare and general education .

2 – During his tenure , poverty dropped dramatically in Venezuela . From 61% in 1997 it dropped to 33% .

3 – During Chavez era share of extremely poor dropped from 30% to 9% .

4 – He made education free up to university level . Now one in three Venezuelans is currently enrolled in higher education . This ratio is the 5th highest ratio in the world . UNESCO has recognized that illiteracy has been eliminated in Venezuela .

5 – During Chavez rule , food imports was reduced . From 90% in 1980 it came to 30% in 2011 .

6 – Due to food programmes and boost to food production during Chavez rule malnutrition dropped to 5% .

7 – Infant mortality dropped from 25 per 1000 in 1990 to 13 in 2010 .

8 – From 18 doctors per 10,000 people , Venezuela now boasts 58 doctors per 10,000 .

9 – 96% of the population of Venezuela has now access to clean drinking water .

My admiration for Chavez grew after going through these statistics . Earlier Venezuela was not even known to many . And now the whole world is mourning Chavez’s death . From the ruler of an unknown country , he became a world figure .

I , along with all the current students and staff of Vidur’s Kreating Charakters  , deeply mourn his death . May his soul rest in peace .

[ I have taken few facts of Chavez's life from Wikipedia . Statistics about Venezuela have been taken from Times of India . I express my gratitude . ]

125 Years of K. M. Munshi

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           FEBUARY 14 , 2013           11.25 P.M.

When in the beginning of January 2013 , President of India Pranab Mukherjee went to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan headquarters in Mumbai and paid tribute to K. M. Munshi , I suddenly realized that my favourite icon , a freedom fighter and an extraordinary litterateur of India has completed 125 years of his existence .

K. M. Munshi

K. M. Munshi

I have read Hindi translations of almost all his novels . I particularly love his historical and mythological novels like ; Jai Somnath and Bhagwan Parashuram . During my adolescent years I was enamoured by his personality . His role and contribution in the re-construction of Somnath Temple is unparalleled . It speaks volumes about his character and determination that he could achieve this feat , though Jawaharlal Nehru was dead against the idea .

Book 2

Book

K. M. Munshi was born on 30 December 1887 in the town of Bharuch in Gujarat, and educated in Vadodara , where he excelled in academics. One of his teachers at Baroda College was Sri Aurobindo Ghosh who had a profound impression on him. Munshi was also greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Bhulabhai Desai, and Mohammed Ali Jinnah. After acquiring his degree in Law from the University of Bombay, he enrolled himself as an advocate in 1913 . About this time his first novel was being serialised in a Gujarati weekly.

Under Sri Aurobindo‘s influence, Munshi was attracted to armed rebellion against the British. He even learnt to make bombs, but when he moved to Bombay in 1915, he drifted towards the Home Rule Movement, and was later elected member of the Subjects Committee of the Indian National Congress in 1917. He started the movement for a Parliamentary wing of the Congress, and later became Secretary of the Congress Parliamentary Board in 1938. The same year he founded the well-known Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Institute of Agriculture at Anand, Gujarat.

Munshi was an active participant in the Indian Independence Movement ever since the advent of Mahatma Gandhi. He joined the Swaraj Party but returned to the Indian National Congress on Gandhiji‘s behest with the launch of the Salt Satyagraha in 1930. He was arrested several times, including during the Quit India Movement of 1942. A great admirer of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Munshi served in the Central Legislative Assembly in the 1930s.

After the independence of India, Munshi was appointed diplomatic envoy and trade agent (Agent-General) to the princely state of Hyderabad, where he served until its accession to India in 1948. Munshi was on the ad hoc Flag Committee that selected the Flag of India in August 1947, and on the committee which drafted the Constitution of India under the chairmanship of B. R. Ambedkar. He and Purushottam Das Tandon were among those who strongly opposed propagation and conversion in the constituent assembly. He was also the main driving force behind the renovation of the historically important Somnath Temple by the Government of India just after independence.

Munshi served as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1952 to 1957. In 1959, Munshi separated from the Nehru-dominated Congress Party and started the Akhand Hindustan Movement. He , along with Chakravarti Rajagopalachari , founded the Swatantra Party, which was right-wing in its politics, pro-business, pro-free market economy and private property rights. The party enjoyed limited success and eventually died out. Later, Munshi joined the Jan Sangh.

Being a prolific writer and a conscientious journalist, Munshi started a Gujarati monthly called Bhargava. He was joint-editor of Young India and in 1954, started the Bhavan’s Journal which is published by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to this day. Munshi was President of the Sanskrit Viswa Parishad, the Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, and the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan.

Apart from founding Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Munshi was instrumental in the establishment of Bhavan’s College, Hansraj Morarji Public School, Rajhans Vidyalaya, Rajhans Balvatika and Panchgani Hindu School (1924). He was elected Fellow of the University of Bombay, where he was responsible for giving adequate representation to regional languages.

Besides being a politician and educator, Munshi was also an environmentalist. He initiated the Vanmahotsav in 1950, when he was Union Minister of Food and Agriculture, to increase area under forest cover. Since then Van Mahotsav a week-long festival of tree plantation is organised every year in the month of July all across the country and lakhs of trees are planted.

Works

Munshi was also a litterateur with a wide range of interests. He is well-known for his historical novels in Gujarati, especially his trilogy Patan-ni-Prabhuta (The Greatness of Patan), Gujarat-no-Nath (The Ruler of Gujarat) and Rajadhiraj (The Emperor). His other works include Jay Somnath (on Somnath temple), Krishnavatara (on Lord Krishna), Bhagavan Parasurama (on Parshurama), and Tapasvini (The Lure of Power) a novel with a fictional parallel drawn from the Freedom Movement of India under Mahatma Gandhi. Munshi also wrote several notable works in English.

Munshi has written mostly based on fictional historical themes namely

  1. Earlier Aryan settlements in India (What he calls Gaurang’s – white skinned)
  2. Krishna’s endeavors in Mahabharata kaal
  3. More recently in 10th century India around Gujarat, Malwa and Southern India.

K.M. Munshi’s novel Prithvi Vallabh was made into a movie of the same name twice. The adaptation directed by Manilal Joshi in 1924 was very controversial in its day: Mahatma Gandhi railed against it for excessive sex and violence. The second version was by Sohrab Modi in 1943.

Latest Game of Paid Media & R.S.S.

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           JANUARY 06 , 2013           11.15 P.M.

Congress , the Indian National Congress commands enviable sway over the Indian media . During olden days , when print media ruled the country , they always had their way . And gullible masses knew nothing about it . These days , when electronic media has become all – powerful and has almost become omni – present , Congress has devised a new strategy . It is alleged that a vast section of electronic media is getting paid and thus to oblige their masters they have become a mere tool in their hands .

The game started in the newly independent India . Jawahar Lal Nehru and later on his daughter Indira Gandhi , both used print media to malign R.S.S. [ Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ] . I have followed political scenario of the country since the days of Jawahar Lal Nehru , the first Prime Minister of India . Shri Golwalkar a.k.a. Guru Ji was demonized by him and the sycophant print media helped him to accomplish his nefarious goals . His designs went unnoticed because of the gullible public of those nascent days . Same was the case during Indira Gandhi’s regime . She always maligned R.S.S. and the 3rd Sarasanghachalak Shri Madhukar Dattatreya Deoras a.k.a. Bala Saheb Deoras and no one got the hint because the people of freshly independent country were still naive .

The old tactic of maligning and demonizing R.S.S. [ Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ] is still continuing unabated with the help of pliable , sycophant and ready – to – help allegedly paid media .

Dr. Mohan Madhukar Bhagawat – 6th Sarasanghachalak of R.S.S. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Mohan Madhukar Bhagawat , the 6th Sarasanghachalak of R.S.S. , unwittingly became the latest whipping boy of paid media . Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was never their favourite but to take innocuous line from a speech and twisting it to further their nefarious designs is deplorable . It is unfortunate .

But now the days are changed . All – pervading , all – encompassing electronic media can’t be a tool of only the Congress . Through internet and various forums of social media people can know the truth and can educate others also . Gone are the days of servile media , which was always ready to help their masters . Now public can know and verify the truth . So within hours of the statement of Shri Mohan Bhagawat , paid media twisted and misquoted it to help their Congress masters , who were facing worst crisis because of the deplorable case of Delhi girl child . So Shri Mohan Bhagawat became the target . But it backfired .

People watched the speech on YouTube and twitter – handles were used to remove the misinformation . You can go through the tweets of eminent journalist Kanchan Gupta and can yourself decide . I am re – tweeting the relevant tweets :

Tweets

1. Just spoke to impeccable top RSS source. Story on Mohanrao Bhagwat’s alleged comment on marriage and role of man/woman total fabrication.

2. Mohanrao Bhagwat was speaking on differences between Western and Indian concepts of marriage.

3. Mohanrao Bhagwat pointed out in West marriage is a ‘social contract’. In India it is a ‘sacred institution’.

4. Mohanrao Bhagwat explained man-woman role per ‘social contract’ and NOT per Indian experience or institution of marriage.

5. A studio-edited bite has been used by TimesNow and HT to create false impression that Mohanrao Bhagwat spoke in Indian context.

6. Top RSS source: “The RSS does NOT believe women should stay at home and do household chores.”

7. There is a concerted move by media to deliberately misquote Mohanrao Bhagwat and shift focus away from real issues that hurt Congress.

8. Top RSS source: This is a malacious and motivated attack. Media trying to forge anti-RSS discourse by taking recourse to fabrications”.

9. I am told RSS has pointed out to Arnab Goswami that byte on TimesNow is studio-edited to mislead viewers on what Mohanrao Bhagwat said.

10. Canard and calumny about RSS nothing new. Old trick of Congress to raise bogey whenever in trouble. Media complicit partner.

I am posting above mentioned facts for the politically conscious students of my acting academy Vidur’s Kreating Charakters . Many Acting schools of Mumbai are blowing their own trumpet and declaring themselves as the best acting school / best acting institute / best acting academy of India / Mumbai / Bollywood . I don’t want to join the chorus . I don’t wish to declare my acting institute as the best acting school / best acting institute / best acting academy of India / Mumbai / Bollywood . I wish and want my students to become a better citizen of India . I want them to be a socially conscious citizens of this country .

Thus I keep on posting blogs on different topics .

Longest Serving Chief Ministers of India

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           DECEMBER 30 , 2012           11.57 P.M.

After Narendra Modi‘s emphatic and 3rd consecutive electoral victory in 2012 Gujarat assembly elections , I came across a very startling fact through news papers . Times of India reported that including Narendra Modi , at present we have 6 serving Chief Ministers in various states of India , who have won 3 consecutive terms .

Corrected few errors.

Map of India (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Here is the list of 6 serving Chief Ministers , who have won 3 consecutive terms .

1 – Sheila Dikshit = Delhi – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1998 - to date ]

2 – Manik Sarkar = Tripura – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1998 - to date ]

3 – Naveen Patnaik = Odisha - 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2000 - to date ]

4 – Tarun Gogoi = Assam – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2001 - to date ]

5 – Okram Ibobi Singh = Manipur – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2002 - to date ]

&

6 – Narendra Modi = Gujarat – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2002 - to date ]

It is very interesting to note that out of these 6 Chief Ministers ; 3 belong to Congress [ Indian National Congress ] , and 1 each to CPM [ Communist Party of India - Marxist ] , BJD [ Biju Janata Dal ] & BJP [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] .

Till date , there are only 13 Chief Ministers , who could win 3 or more than 3 terms consecutively . Here is the list :

1 – Jyoti Basu = West Bengal – 5 Consecutive Terms [ 1977 - 2000 ]

2 – Mohanlal Sukhadia = Rajasthan – 4 Consecutive Terms [ 1954 - 1971 ]

3 – Gegong Apang = Arunachal Pradesh – 4 Consecutive Terms [ 1980 - 1999 ]

4 – B. C. Roy = West Bengal – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1948 - 1962 ]

5 – K. Kamaraj = Tamil Nadu – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1954 - 1963 ]

6 – Vasantrao Naik = Maharashtra – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1963 - 1975 ]

7 – M.G. Ramachandran = Tamil Nadu – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1977 - 1987 ]

8 – Sheila Dikshit = Delhi – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1998 - to date ]

9 – Manik Sarkar = Tripura – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 1998 - to date ]

10 – Naveen Patnaik = Odisha - 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2000 - to date ]

11 – Tarun Gogoi = Assam – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2001 - to date ]

12 – Okram Ibobi Singh = Manipur – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2002 - to date ]

&

13 – Narendra Modi = Gujarat – 3 Consecutive Terms [ 2002 - to date ]

If you dissect the list further , out of these 13 Chief Ministers ; 8 belong to Congress [ Indian National Congress ] , 2 belong to CPM [ Communist Party of India - Marxist ] and 1 each to AIADMK [ All India Anna Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam ] , BJD [ Biju Janata Dal ] and BJP [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] .

I think in next assembly elections due in 2013 , this scenario is definitely going to change . 2 more BJP Chief Ministers are poised to win their 3rd consecutive term . They are , Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Raman Singh , the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh respectively .

2013 assembly elections are going to unfold interesting chapter in the history of India .

It would be an interesting political story to share with my acting students of my acting institute  Vidur’s Kreating Charakters .
