VIDUR Acting Institute BANNER - Training Students Since 1990

VIDUR Acting Institute BANNER – Training Students Since 1990

Companies have tradition of publishing Annual Progress Reports for their  share – holders . Acting Institutes have no such tradition . Not even one acting institute of the world has done it ever .

Acting Institutes have only brochures . But brochures are published in bulk and very often they carry old information . Therefore I decided to establish VIDUR Club and publish Newsletter [ Internet Version ] / Booklet of Achievements [ Print Version ] of the previous year for the perusal of our past , present and would be students , friends & well-wishers , who reside in the 158 countries of the world .

When some upstart acting trainers revel in deception , it is prudent to become upright in dealings . When some upstart acting trainers revel in dishing out false data , it is advisable to come out with true facts & figures . When some upstart acting trainers revel in preposterous claims to lure and hoodwink gullible students , it is ethical and natural to remain transparent .

I have no audacity to declare my acting academy as the best acting academy of Mumbai or the best acting institute of India . It is definitely not the best acting school of Bollywood . My acting class is one among the many acting classes of Mumbai .

And also I have no time to celebrate the success of 3 /4 years old serials . I don’t have time for remembrances . At Vidur’s Kreating Charakters the Saga still continues . Through this blog I would like to celebrate the success of my students , Ranbir Kapoor , Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif , who got awards in January 2013 and are destined to rule the film industry for many more years to come .

I , on behalf of all the current students and staff of Vidur’s Kreating Charakters  , congratulate all the above mentioned award-winning personalities and my students.

May they shine in their chosen field .

[ I have taken the list of the winners from the blog posting of Nikhil on  I express my gratitude . ]

My Association With Animation Films of India

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           JANUARY 04 , 2013           11.55 P.M.

Hollywood has long tradition of successful animation films . In India it is the recent phenomenon . Roadside Romeo ” [ 2008 ] , ” Arjun – The Warrior Prince ” [ 2009 ] and Delhi Safari ” [ 2012 ] are the most successful and well – known animation films of India . But they are new compared to the 100 years old Indian Cinema .

” Roadside Romeo “ was produced by Yash Raj Films & Walt Disney Company .  ” Arjun – The Warrior Prince “ was made by UTV & Disney . ” Delhi Safari “ was a film by Nikil Advani .

Though , in India , animation films are latest phenomenon , but it all started in 1974 . Ek Anek Aur Ekta ” [ 1974 ] is considered to be the first animation film of India . But the first 3D animation film of India and till date the most talked about animation film is ” Roadside Romeo ” [ 2008 ] .

” Roadside Romeo “ , technically most perfect animation film of India till date , was produced by Yash Raj Films and was written & Directed by Jugal Hansraj . Voice for the lead characters were given by Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor . Saif and Kareena are my old students . Jugal , who was trained by me for Yash Raj Films ” Mohabbatein ” [ 2000 ] , made his directorial debut with this film .

Through ” Roadside Romeo ” , I made my contribution in the world of Indian animation films also . It is so heartening .

List of Indian animated movies

List of animated TV series produced in India

  • The Adventures of Tenali Raman:The Adventures of Tenali Raman (26 X 11 min) is India’s first animated 2D television series by Toonz Animation India.
  • Little Krishna: 13 episodes 3D animated series produced for global audience by BIG Animation (I) Pvt. Ltd. and The Indian Heritage Foundation in both languages Hindi and English. Aired on Nickelodeon on May 2009.
  • Chhota Bheem:Super hit series on Pogo ‘Chhota Bheem’ produced by Green Gold(co-production with Turner International). It started as a 13-episode TV series, and based on the popularity it got extended and till date more than 60 episodes were delivered and work is underway on more episodes.
  • Krishna Balram: 26 stories, of 22 minutes duration each, follow through the capers of Krishna, Balram and Radha. Once again by Green Gold Animation. This series aired on Cartoon Network.
  • Shaktimaan Animated: It is the animated version of the hugely successful Shaktimaan series of the 1990s. The animated series is aired on SONIC.

[ I have taken the above list of animation films and serials from Wikipedia . I express my gratitude . ]

I am happy that my 3 students contributed in the first and most successful 3D animation film of India . I wish and hope that in future more students of my acting class Vidur’s Kreating Charakters  should take part in such endeavour .

Understanding Tamil Nadu – [ 2 ]

VAITHEESWARAN KOIL – TAMIL NADU – INDIA           DECEMBER 24 , 2012      11.59 P.M.

The political state of Tamil Nadu in India was...

The political state of Tamil Nadu in India was created in 1969 when erstwhile Madras State was renamed (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

In my last blog I have stated about the Self Respect Movement started by E. V. Ramasamy Naicker ” Periyar ” in Tamil Nadu in 1925 . This far – reaching movement changed the contours of Tamil Nadu , Tamil politics and Tamil society forever .

English: An image of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy हि...

A Young Periyar E. V. Ramasamy (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

It did give room to some misgivings but its effect and its contribution can’t be wished out . Instead of talking about the misgivings , let us look at the positive side .

1 – Periyar talked about the eradication of caste system . According to him lack of self-respect among weaker section of society and their uplifting should be the main aim of society and government . Periyar thought that a small number of people , mainly Brahmins have created caste system to dominate the weaker section , who are in majority . So there should be casteless society .

2 – Periyar talked about the women’s rights . Since he was a rationalist , he advocated women emancipation , widow re – marriage , education for women and jobs for them in police and army . He talked that women should be given equal rights and they should be given good education and must have right to property . He also advocated widow re – marriage . He wanted to abolish dowry system and advocated inter – cast marriages . It will be astonishing for many that in those primitive era , he advocated birth control also and it all happened much before government took the initiative .

3 – He talked about rationalism and criticized the inherent contradictions in the Hindu religion .

His espousal of above mentioned causes are laudable and praiseworthy . Almost every leader of that era supported these causes in one form or other . Method was definitely different but not the goal .

Now let us talk about two movements , which can’t be supported and because of that , Periyar is misunderstood in the rest of the country .

1 – In 1937 , the then Chief Minister of Madras State Chakravarthi Rajgopalachari introduced Hindi as compulsory language of education in school . Periyar opposed it whole – heartedly and he got massive support also . Leaders cutting party lines supported the movement . Later on all the Dravidian parties also took this as their demand and anti – Hindi movement slowly became anti – North Indian .

Front page of the Tamil Magazine Kudiyarasu dated 03 September 1939. It was run by Periyar. E. V. Ramasamy. There is an editorial titled “Veezhga Indhi” (Down with Hindi) written as part of the Anti Hindi Agitations of 1937-40 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

English: Frontpage of the magazine Kudiyarasu ...

Frontpage of the magazine Kudiyarasu (dated 20 November 1938). The magazine was run by Periyar E. V. Ramasamy in the Madras Presidency, British India. This issue reports about the Tamil Nadu women’s conference to be held on 13 November 1938. The conference was convened to showcase women’s support to the Anti-Hindi agitation of 1937–40 This particular scan is taken from Pollachi Nasan’s collection (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

2 – In 1939 Periyar become head of Justice Party and in 1944 changed its name to Dravid Kazhagam . He then started advocating independent Dravid Nadu .

English: Front page of the Dravida Nadu magazi...

It depicts Periyar E. V. Ramasamy and his speech in the court during the Anti-Hindi Agitations of 1937-40 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Thus anti – Hindi movement and propagating independent Dravid Nadu could be called sore points for the North Indians and thus Dravid movement and Tamil Nadu is misunderstood in the rest of the country .

But we should know that within 5 years of propagating independent Dravid Nadu , majority of Dravid leaders  left Dravid Kazhagam . C. N. Annadurai led the rebellion and formed Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam in 1949 . He participated in elections and formed the first non – Congress government in 1967 .

Therefore misgivings about independent Dravid Nadu should be put to rest because Periyar’s followers themselves didn’t pursue it .

Anti – Hindi agitation erupts here and there even today but there are fissiparous activities in many parts of the country . Why blame only Tamil Nadu for this . I have read many stories about anti – Hindi feelings of Tamil people . But during my stay in the province and that to in the hinterlands , I was astounded and would like to tell my North Indian friends that enmity does not exist . Every section of Tamil society and people tried to help me even though they genuinely can’t speak Hindi . They did struggle but tried to speak Hindi . So ” HINDI ILLAI ” slogan , which was given so much publicity in all the Hindi press in and after 1967 is completely wrong and mischievous .

I am sorry to say that many stories published in the news papers and magazines of Hindi in 1967 are not true . May be some things might have happened during the anti Hindi agitation of 1937 and 1967 , but they are things of the past . The emblem of Tamil Nadu says it all .

Emblem of the State Government of Tamil Nadu used by the state government for public notices in the press and for publicity purposes. The emblem of India is the image used on the India Wikipedia article. தமிழ்: தமிழ் நாடு அரசின் சின்னம். (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I would like to tell every one along with the students of my acting class Vidur’s Kreating Charakters , that Tamil Nadu is changing very fast or it has already changed .

Narendra Modi & His Detractors

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           DECEMBER 20, 2012           08.00 P.M.

I believe in democracy and thus I firmly believe in the saying of Voltaire , which I have given below :

“I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it .”  – Voltaire

Then what to do with false , abusive and malicious campaign . Here I admire the way Shri Narendra Modi deals with his detractors . He concentrates on his work and ignores the acerbic spleen of his nay – sayers .

English: Narendra Modi in Press Conference

Narendra Modi in Press Conference (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

He once famously said, ” A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him. “

38 Godhra Station.psd.jpg

It explains the enigma of Narendra Modi . Today he has won the third consecutive term in Gujarat . He is condemned , vilified and demonized since Godhra riots . But continuously winning election in 2002 , 2007 and now in 2012 and that too decisively and single – handedly , is by no means an unimportant achievement .

Districts of Gujarat

Map of Districts of Gujarat (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Gujarat has now become synonymous with Shri Narendra Modi . He now represents the province completely . But it took many years of agony – filled existence . It took many painful nights and colourless mornings . But today public gave the verdict and its for all to see . Now it is a permanent death-nail in the coffins of his detractors .

I think that people are the final judges and they give decisive verdicts . Public can never be ambiguous . They can never be wrong . Though sometimes they do take longer time to decide .

Today as I write this blog and simultaneously reading the tweets about Gujarat election , I am convinced that Modi detractors have bitten dust and they have eggs on their despicable faces . Nay – sayers will never be silenced but after the verdict of 2012 , no one will believe them any more .

I told acting students of my acting class  Vidur’s Kreating Charakters , that in this film line they will get more detractors than fans or friends . And here they should always be careful who they call their friends . It’s always better to have 4 quarters than 100 pennies . They should not feel humiliated or disheartened by the acts of their detractors .They should always wait for public verdict .

In such cases public verdict comes and it comes pretty soon .
