I have seen many films of Jagdish Raj . But I first noticed him in a commercial campaign . It was for CHARMINAR Cigarette . He was playing a press photographer in that campaign and his tag line is still ringing in my mind – ” MEHNAT JAB KARTA HOON , TO TASALLI POORI CHAHTA HOON . ”
I can still describe the scene of his ad for a discerning connoisseur of films . With a camera on his shoulder and sweat on his face , he was running on the roads of Bombay [ now Mumbai ] and clicking photos . He stops at a signal , lights a cigarette and says , ” MEHNAT JAB KARTA HOON , TO TASALLI POORI CHAHTA HOON . ” His sweat-filled face is still fresh in my memory .
I , later on , came to know that he is Jagdish Raj . Gradually I saw many of his films and became acquainted with his body of work .
It sad that he is gone . Though he played his innings well and completed his journey satisfactorily but departure of a known figure of our films is sad .
On behalf of all the students and staff of VIDUR Acting Institute , which is known as Vidur’s Kreating Charakters , I offer my condolences to the bereaved family . My heart goes to Anita Raj .
VIDUR Editing Studio , VIDUR Club and VIDUR Theatre also join in expressing profound grief .
May his soul rest in peace !
[ I have taken list of his films from Wikipedia . I express my gratitude . ]
