Maharashtra Local Body Elections 2017 : Saffron Tsunami

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           FEBRUARY 26, 2017           11.35 P.M.

Five years back in 2012, almost at the same time and also in the month of February, I wrote a blog about Saffron Juggernaut in Maharashtra municipal elections for 10 Municipal Corporations. B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] was victorious even then. But they won the elections in alliance with Shiv Sena.

This time again elections were declared for the same 10 Municipal Corporations. And I am writing about Saffron Tsunami.

2017-municipal-council-polls

But this time 25-year-old alliance with Shiv Sena broke and B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] went alone to test the waters. It happened because of hubris of Shiv Sena. B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] won May 2014 Lok Sabha elections and formed government in Delhi. Then in assembly elections in Maharashtra, both the parties went their separate ways. B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] wanted to fight half the seats i.e. 144. But Shiv Sena was not willing. Unable to accept new ground realities and unwilling to acknowledge resurgence of B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ], they were insisting on the old formula of Bala Saheb Thackeray and Pramod Mahajan days 171 : 117. [ 171 for Shiv Sena & 117 for B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] or a later day formula; 169 : 119 [ 169 for Shiv Sena & 119 for B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ].

B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] and Shiv Sena went their separate ways. Gamble paid off as B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] won 122 sears out of 288, only 23 short of majority mark. It increased its number of seats from 46 to 122. Shiv Sena won only 63 seats. But it also increased its tally. From 44 to 63, it got 19 more seats.

Not willing to accept any lessons from assembly elections 2014 drubbing, Shiv Sena was willing to give only 60 seats to B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] in B.M.C. [ Bruhan Mumbai Municipal Corporation ]. It was in fact 3 short of their previous tally. naturally B.J.P. refused and both the parties went their separate ways.

And as they say REST IS HISTORY.

B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] won 82 seats, 51 more from 31 seats won by it in 2012. Shiv Sena could win 84 seats, only 9 more than its 1012 tally of 75.

2017-mumbai-municipal-corporation

Apart from stunning, almost 3 fold increase in B.M.C. [ Bruhan Mumbai Municipal Corporation ] , B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] won 8 other Municipal Corporations. It snatched Pune & Pimpri-Chinchwad from N.C.P. [ Nationalist Congress Party ].

PUNE : 2017 –  98 //  2012 – 26 [ +72 ]

PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : 2017 – 78 // 2012 – 3 [ + 75 ]

B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] also won Nashik, where N.C.P. was the ruling dispensation along with M.N.S. [ Maharashtra Navanirman Sena ]

NASHIK : 2017 – 67 // 2012 – 14 [ + 53 ]

B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] gave bloody nose to I.N.C. [ Indian National Congress ] in Amaravati & Solapur, where it was the ruling party along with N.C.P. [ Nationalist Congress Party ].

AMARAVATI : 2017 – 45 // 2012 – 7 [ + 38 ]

SOLAPUR : 2017 – 47 // 2012 – 25 [ + 22 ]

In fact B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] got solo control of 2 Municipal Corporations; Akola & Ulhasnagar, which it previously ruled along with Shiv Sena.

AKOLA : 2017 – 48 // 2012 – 18 [ + 30 ]

ULHASNAGAR : 2017 – 32 // 2012 – 11 [ + 21 ]

B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] retained Nagpur with huge gains. It won 108 seat, 46 more seats than its previous tally of 62.

NAGPUR : 2017 – 108 // 2012 – 62 [ + 46 ]

2017-nagpur-municipal-corporation

Now the case of the 10th Municipal Corporation of Thane. Shiv Sena was successful to retain the Corporation. B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] failed to win. But it improved its tally. It won 23 seats, 15 more than the previous tally of 8.

All the above mentioned results show stunning and staggering growth of B.J.P. [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] in Maharashtra after Narendra Modi and Amit Shah era started in India and after Devendra Fadnavis era started in Maharashtra. Maharashtra B.J.P. president Rao Saheb Danve & Mumbai president Ashish Shelar also contributed immensely in this growth.

BJP In Maharashtra Municipal Elections 2015

DSC01182

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           NOVEMBER 07, 2015           11.45 P.M.

India Under Modi in 2014 - 2015

India Under Modi in 2014 – 2015

I have to frequently write about all the election victories of Bharatiya Janata Party led by Narendra Modi because national media, print and electronic both, sometimes ignore the results of the small and remote states and union territories.

Even if they write about the victories of BJP in bigger states, they berate BJP and put misleading headlines. Recent local body elections in MAHARASHTRA of KDMC , Kalyan – Dombivli Municipal Corporation and KMC , Kolhapur Municipal Corporation are the best examples of biased media reporting.

BJP contested the KDMC elections alone and got 48 seats [ 42 + 6 Independents ] . It had only 9 seats in 2010. It is a 5 fold gain. But according to media, Congress is on the way to revival and Shiv Sena edged the BJP. Shiv Sena also claimed that we are the “BAAP” in Maharashtra politics. Shiv Sena is up 21 and BJP is up 39 from the 2010 tally. Shiv Sena has got only 4 more seats compared to BJP. Now who is the “BAAP”? Congress got 4 seats and is down 11 seats from 2010. How could KDMC election be called a revival? BJP is the biggest gainer but according to media it is not important.

In Kolhapur also BJP’s gain is 8 times more. It contested elections with a local outfit Tararani Aghadi and not with Shiv Sena. BJP got 4 in 2010. In 2015 it got 32 along with Tararani Aghadi. Shiv Sena got a paltry 4 seats, up 1 from 2010 but it claims to the “BAAP” of Maharashtra politics. Congress is down 4 and NCP is down 14 from their 2010 tally. But for media it is Congress’s revival and its a wake up call for BJP.

Here is the seat tally of KDMC 2015 & KMC 2015 Polls :

Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation ( KDMC ) Elections

================================================

TOTAL SEATS : 122 / Half Way Mark : 62

Shiv Sena : 52 / In 2010 : 31 [ + 21 ]

Baratiya Janata Party : 48 / In 2010 : 9 [ + 39 ]

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena : 9 / In 2010 : 27 [ – 18 ]

Congress : 4 / In 2010 : 15 [ – 11 ]

NCP : 2 / In 2010 : 14 [ – 12 ]

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen : 1

Bahujan Samajwadi Party : 1

Independents : 5 / In 2010 : 13 [ – 8 ]

Kolhapur Municipal Corporation ( KMC ) Elections

============================================

TOTAL SEATS : 81 / Half Way Mark : 42

BJP + Tararani Aghadi : 32 / In 2010 : 4 [ + 28 ]

Congress : 27 / In 2010 : 31 [ – 4 ]

NCP : 15 / In 2010 : 29 [ – 14 ]

Shiv Sena : 4 / In 2010 : 3 [ + 1 ]

Independents : 3 / In 2010 : 10 [ – 7 ]

59 Semi Urban Local Bodies / Nagar Panchayat Elections

================================================

BJP : 15 local bodies

Congress : 14 local bodies

NCP : 13 local bodies

Shiv Sena : 6 local bodies.

Nagar Panchayat Elections

============================

The BJP came 1st, the Congress emerged 2nd, the NCP stood a close third, the Shiv Sena a distant fourth, while the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was virtually erased in the results of elections to 59 local bodies which were announced here on Monday, November 02, 2015. Even BSP and CPM are individually ahead of MNS. And combined strength of local parties and independents are almost close to Shiv Sena. BJP is 1st and got more than double seats compared to Shiv Sena. Can Shiv Sena still thinks that it is “BAAP” in Maharashtra politics?

Bharatiya Janata Party : 254 Seats

Congress : 233 Seats

Nationalist Congress Party : 196 Seats

Shiv Sena : 123 Seats

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena : 2 Seats

Bahujan Samaj Party : 7 Seats

CPI-M : 3 seats

Local Parties : 46

Independents : 56 Seats

BJP scored big in the Local Body Election 2015. It hardly matters even if media ignores it. While I am about to post this blog news is coming that Shiv Sena and BJP are joining hands in KDMC and they are set to rule KDMC jointly. It is heartening. Here I am listing all the elections held since the Lok Sabha victory of Narendra Modi. ———————————————————————

I Denounce Sanjay Nirupam’s Comment

2

VAITHEESWARANKOIL – NAGAPATTINAM – TAMIL NADU           DECEMBER 22, 2012           10.15 P.M.

I came to know about Sanjay Nirupam‘s comment about Smriti Irani through twitter . All of sudden there were outrage against Sanjay Nirupam and he started trending for few days .

English: Sanjay Nirupam

Sanjay Nirupam (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

He was originally with Shiv Sena . Then he left the Sena and joined Congress , the Indian National Congress . I don’t think it is change of heart . He definitely joined Congress for greener pastures .

Smriti Irani is a member of BJP , the Bharatiya Janata Party . She is a popular actress of television and essayed role of Tulsi Virani in Ekta Kapoor‘s mega serial ” Kyonki ….. Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi ” .

Flag of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Sanjay Nirupam and his other friends of Congress were definitely frustrated on the day when Gujarat election results were declared . Huge electoral gains for Narendra Modi made them a frustrated lot . So when both ; Sanjay Nirupam and Smriti Irani were participating in a debate on a popular news channel , Sanjya Nirupam commented , ” Aap Bhi To Paise Ke Liye TV Par Thumke Lagati Theen ……….. ” . This uncalled for slur expectedly drew widespread public outcry .

Instead of taking defeat gracefully and instead of showing sympathy for Delhi Rape Victim , Congress leaders like Sanjay Nirupam showed his petty mind and deep-rooted prejudices against female members of the society .

Narendra Modi has been elected by the public . There is no need for not accepting this verdict . If BJP can gracefully accept defeat in Himachal Pradesh , then why can’t Congress in Gujarat ?

And I or any conscientious citizen of India will say that rape is a slap on the face of humanity. So what if it happened in a Congress ruled Delhi ? Every leader of Congress should condemn this barbarous act .

But leaders like Sanjay Nirupam of Indian National Congress are giving went to his frustration and expressed their inner most feelings towards women on National television .

But what can you expect from the Congress , the Indian National Congress ? Here are some glaring examples :

1 – 80 plus Narayan Dutt Tiwari [ Ex Chief Minister of UP and Uttarakhand , Ex Union Minister holding very important portfolios and the then Governor of Andhra Pradesh ] , was allegedly indulging in sexual escapades in the Raj Bhawan of Hyderabad . You can find some videos of this orgy on YouTube .

2 – A middle – aged Abhishek Manu Sanghvi [ Supreme Court lawyer and spokesperson of Congress ] was allegedly seeking favour from another fellow female lawyer for making her a judge . Again CD is easily available and it can be viewed on YouTube .

3 – Paras Nath Maderna’s case is too recent and widely reported in the newspapers . So no need to say anything about it .

So Sanjay Nirupam is doing nothing new or unique . He , in fact , was following footsteps of his other more famous and illustrious leaders . Narayan Dutt Tiwari , Abhishek Many Sanghvi and Paras Nath Maderna are the flag – bearers of Congress , the Indian National Congress .

But irrespective of Congress culture , I condemn Sanjay Nirupam for his comment . You should be ashamed Mr. Nirupam .

At least you can say sorry even now .

I am sorry and saddened that film fraternity is maintaining stoic silence on the insult of one of its fellow member .

But I am not going to be silent . I denounce Sanjay Nirupam’s comment and seek an unconditional apology from him . I don’t want to involve my students and staff of my acting institute Vidur’s Kreating Charakters  in this . Because these days you could be arrested for expressing your feelings on internet .

I am posting this blog in my personal capacity and am ready to face the consequences . Mr. Sanjay Nirupam , I denounce you in no uncertain term .

A Tearful Tribute to Bala Saheb Thackeray

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           NOVEMBER 22 , 2012           11.20 P.M.

I was trying to write this obituary since Saturday . But I couldn’t . There were many things , many thoughts running in my mind simultaneously . And in such circumstances flood-gates of memory gets opened and submerges our psyche .

On Saturday November 17 , 2012 , I was sitting in the office of my Acting Institute , Vidur’s Kreating Charakters , when I heard about the demise of Shri Bala Saheb Thackeray . I closed my Acting Class immediately and returned home . Then I started watching TV . Every channel was full of the sad news . While watching the channels , I was thrown into the year 1967 , the year I passed high school examinations , left my native place Deoria and went to Allahabad for higher studies .

In Allahabad I heard about Shiv Sena , the 1-year-old new emerging force in Maharashtra .

Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena Symbol (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The year was 1967 and Shiv Sena was just 1-year-old organization . I took admission in the Government Inter College , Allahabad and like all the youngsters of my age , I was trying to gather more knowledge , was trying to know more things about the world . I , along with my friends , used to read news papers and discuss events and personalities . Because of Shiv Sena’s pro – Marathi policies and staunch parochial attitude , the organization Shiv Sena and its leader Bal Thackeray [ as Bala Saheb was known then ] , was centre of debate and topic of many heated discussions .

I finished my studies , returned to my native place again and started my life afresh . Destiny sometimes plan things differently and plays unique games . So in 1989 I landed up in Bombay . The city , yet to be rechristened Mumbai , became my permanent abode . In 1989 Shiv Sena got registered as a political party . So my life in Mumbai and life of Shiv Sena as a political party began simultaneously in 1989 .

As I started living in Mumbai , I took note of Shiv Sena , started reading about it and started appreciating Shri Bala Saheb Thackeray and his ideology . I was not mature in 1967 , so I was critical of Bala Saheb’s policies and as a north – Indian felt bad when he uttered something against the north Indians . But as my life began in Mumbai , I started feeling that if someone feels that Marathi language , Marathi culture should be paramount in Maharashtra , there is no harm . If a leader says that Marathi should get preference in Maharashtra and it should be the state language , it is absolutely fine . Marathi language should get preference as the state language . If some organization advocates , propounds and is vocal about jobs for the son – of – the – soil , I feel that it is not unjustified at all and is definitely not anti – national .

So re – evaluation of Bala Saheb as a person and as a leader of Shiv Sena began in my mind . I must admit that slowly all the misgivings of previous years evaporated from my mind . 1990 onwards I could appreciate him in a much better way . I came to know about his early days as a cartoonist in ” The Free Press Journal ” . I saw some of the cartoons , which were published in ” Marmik ” , a magazine which he started after leaving ” The Free Press Journal “. He was second to none as a cartoonist , not even to the legendary R. K. Laxman . His cartoon character Kaka Ji , though not as famous as the Common Man of R. K. Laxman , was a poignant work of art . He even designed the famous logo of Raj Kapoor‘s R. K. Films .

As an orator , he had few equals . His connect with the masses was absolute . When I heard him for the first time , I was mesmerized , though my knowledge of Marathi was limited in those days .

It is unfortunate that I could not meet him in person . I am writing a book on acting and it was my secret wish that Bala Saheb should launch the book . Alas , along with so many wishes , my this wish will also remain unfulfilled .

While sitting at home and watching his funeral procession on Sunday , I remembered some other funeral processions of eminent Indians . I have seen Mahatma Gandhi’s funeral procession in photos . He attracted mammoth crowd even after his death . I do remember Jawahar Lal Nehru’s and Indira Gandhi’s last journey . Again the crowd was unprecedented . Last year I visited Anna Durai’s memorial in Puducherri and was stunned to see photos of his last journey . Apart from these above mentioned last journeys of  great Indian leaders , I have never seen such huge crowd for anybody’s last journey . Jawahar Lal Nehru , Indira Gandhi and Anna Durai held high positions in government . Mahatma Gandhi is the sole example of not holding any post and still commanding such respect after his death . Bala Saheb stands second only to Mahatma Gandhi .

I am sad that I could not meet him earlier and now after his demise it is not possible anymore .

On my behalf and on the behalf of my acting institute Vidur’s Kreating Charakters , I offer condolences to Shri Uddhav Thackeray and the whole Thackeray family .

Nation lost a great leader and I lost an opportunity .

Assembly Election 2012 : Decline & Fall of Nehru – Gandhi Dynasty

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           MARCH 12, 2012           01.10 A.M.

Last month Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and other Civic Elections were held in Maharashtra and they threw surprising results . BJP and Shiv Sena , along with their new ally RPI [ Republican Party of India ] have won Mumbai , Thane , Ulhasnagar , Nagpur and Akola municipal corporations . They , in fact , won 5 Municipal bodies out of 10 . In Mumbai BJP [ Bharatiya Janata Party ] and Shiv Sena combine is in power since 15 years . It is their 4th consecutive term . Before election results were declared , BJP was written off by Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists . BJP , to their utter dismay , won 3 more seats in Mumbai that 2007.

Same pattern was repeated in just concluded 5 assembly elections by same Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists . They wrote BJP off . But again they have bitten dust . They were baffled by the saffron surge .Latest assembly election in 5 states of India is going to be a game – changer in many sense of the term .

It heralds all – encompassing saffron surge .

It signifies decimation of Indian National Congress .

It signals decline and subsequent fall of Nehru – Gandhi dynasty .

It bares open Anti – Nationalist agenda of  Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists .

5 Indian States , Where Elections Were Held

5 Indian States , Where Elections Were Held

Before election results were declared , almost all the News anchors and psephologists were in unison that the Congress will come with flying colours in all the states . It will oust BJP from Uttarakhand and Punjab and will gain substantially in Uttar Pradesh and BJP in Uttar Pradesh will be put to the 4th position . That Congress will win in Manipur was a foregone conclusion . They gave BJP just a slender majority in Goa .

Psephologists repeated these lies 24×7 . Mr. Rahul Gandhi and his campaign trail was followed by Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists . Even minutest details were dutifully reported and a false image was created about victory of Congress and defeat of BJP . Mr. Rahul Gandhi , Ms. Priyanka Gandhi and her kids descended on Uttar Pradesh and media portrayed them as the saviours of the people of Uttar Pradesh . All the BJP leaders were ignored as if they don’t exist . Mr. Mulayam Sigh Yadav was given larger number of seats compared to Congress but not the majority . According to Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists , Congress was supposed to be the king – maker in Uttar Pradesh , king in Punjab , Uttarakhnd and Manipur and a minor looser in Goa .

Mr. Rahul Gandhi

Mr. Rahul Gandhi

Ms. Priyanka Gandhi

Ms. Priyanka Gandhi

According to Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists , BJP was going to be 4th in Uttar Pradesh , going to be ousted in Punjab and Uttarakhand and is going to be nowhere in Manipur . Goa was given to BJP but hesitatingly .

Shri Lal Krishna Advani , Shri Nitin Gadkari and all the big leaders campaigned tirelessly but were ignored . Uma Bharti Ji was not even mentioned in some channels .

Lal_Krishna_Advani_Website

Lal_Krishna_Advani_Website (Photo credit: Gauravonomics)

BJP believes in the theory of ” India First – Party Next – Self Last ” . BJP has no dynasty to safeguard . So they worked silently and tirelessly . From top leaders to ordinary workers all pitched in as per their capacity . Their sole aim was :

तेरा वैभव अमर रहे माँ , हम दिन चार रहें न रहें ……

Results came and all the Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists got shock of their lives . I was watching various news channels and was amused to watch the faces of anchors .

Punjab :

===========

The state had history of not giving fresh mandate to the incumbent party . From 1966, when uni – lingual Punjab was created after its tri-furcation , no incumbent government came to power again . So it was pretty easy to predict that Congress would be forming the next government . So without any second thought Punjab was given to the Congress . All Pre – Poll and Post – Poll surveys were unanimous .

But the results were shocking for all . Out of 117 seats SAD [ Shiromani Akali Dal ] and BJP [ Bharatiya janata Party ] got 56 and 12 respectively . It is 9 more than the simple majority . Congress got only 46 seats , 2 up than the last time .

Parkash Singh Badal : 5 Time Chief Minister of Punjab

Parkash Singh Badal : 5 Time Chief Minister of Punjab

Uttarakhand :

===================

BJP was written off in Uttarakhand . But in the final tally it got 31 seats  and Congress got 32 . Just 1 more and still media ranted about BJP’s rout . It is unfortunate that BJP got just 5 short of majority .  Shri Bhuwan Chand khanduri came just few months back and managed a miracle . Uttarakhand is missed by the BJP narrowly .

Goa :

============

Media showed some leniency as for as Goa was concerned . But they were willing to give BJP just 18 seats . 3 short of a simple majority . In the final reckoning BJP got 21 , absolute majority in the house of 40 . Its ally MGP [ Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party ] got 3 seats . So the combine’s seat tally is 24 in the house of 40 .

Manohar Parrikar - @ Time Chief Minister of Goa

Manohar Parrikar - 2 Time Chief Minister of Goa

Uttar Pradesh :

==================

World’s 6th biggest administrative unit Uttar Pradesh went through 7 phase elections . Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP [ Samajwadi Party ] got absolute majority , though no one predicted it . According to Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists , BJP was going to be 4th and Congress will be king – maker and SP will have to seek its support . Result is for all to see . With 224 seats SP got absolute majority in the assembly for the first time. So – called king – maker Congress got 28 seats , 4 more than 2007 elections .

Akhilesh Yadav

Akhilesh Yadav

It is unfortunate that Uma Bharati ji’s efforts failed to give desired results . But consider some facts . BJP got 47 seats . 4 less than 51 , its 2007 tally . But BJP came second in 55 seats . One seat it lost by just 18 votes . Of these 55 seats many seats it lost by less than 200 votes . Had media not been so avers and instead portrayed true pictures , I feel results would have been different .

Uma Bharati Ji

Uma Bharati Ji

Manipur :

================

I am happy for Manipur . Mr. Okram Ibobi Singh won 3rd consecutive term . His victory augurs well for this tiny North – Eastern state . He got 42 seats in the house of 60 . Mr. Okram Ibobi Singh has managed 12 more seats this time than the tally of 30 in 2007 .

Okram Ibobi Singh

Okram Ibobi Singh

But architect of Manipur’s Congress victory is the Chief Minister and not the Nehru – Gandhi dynasty . It should be clear to Left – Liberal – Pseudo Secular intelligentsia , TV anchors and journalists that despite all the hype , all the PR exercise and all the orchestrated clamour that only Nehru – Gandhi family can save the nation , is appearing wrong . Mr. Rahul Gandhi worked very hard in Bihar in the last election and got only 4 seats .

Map of Indian States As Per Ruling Party's Colour

The saffron in the map will keep on increasing . There are 7 BJP Chief Ministers in India . They are in ; Karnataka , Goa , Gujarat , Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh , Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh . BJP is junior partner in 3 more states . They are ; Punjab , Bihar and Nagaland . BJP is main opposition party in 3 states , having its leaders as Leader of Opposition . They are ; Rajsthan , Delhi and Uttarakhand . It has got 114 seats in Lok Sabha and 51 in Rajya sabha .

Today Congress controls only 30.07% of total value of vote share for the President poll , which is coming in July . In spite of Dynasty being at the helm , they are in minority as for as presidential poll is concerned and media wont be helpful here. It is sheer arithmetic . 58 Rajya Sabha seats are falling vacant next month . Then Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections are due towards the end of the year .

Not winning in Bihar and now not so impressive show in Uttar Pradesh in particular and all the other states in general does not augur well for the dynasty . Sheen is gone . Shine will soon go away .

Maharashtra Municipal Elections 2012 : Congress’ Rout ; Saffron Juggernaut

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           FEBRUARY 24 , 2012           02.40 A.M.

Municipal and Local Body elections 2012 in Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra just got over and now process of installing the mayors and other office bearers are underway .  These elections gave some very startling and surprising results this time .

It was initially thought by left – liberal intellectuals / journalists and slowly it became general perception that this time the saffron front is facing rout . It was widely believed that in the ensuing municipal corporation elections in Mumbai the ruling front ; the Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party , is playing on sticky wicket . BMC [ Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ] is the richest corporation of India . Its annual budget is bigger than the budget of some of the state assemblies of India . So these elections are considered prestigious and this time it was keenly watched .

In Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation , the ruling Front of Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janta Party was in power for unbelievable 3 consecutive terms . Therefore the Congress and NCP [ Nationalist Congress Party ] came to conclusion that incumbency factor will harm the ruling front and invariably brighten the prospect of opposition front . It was also felt that MNS [ Maharashtra Navanirman Sena ] will eat into Saffron Front votes and thus going to deprive them of victory . But unseen hands of destiny had few shocker for the Congress and NCP this time also .

Shiv Sena patriarch Shri Bala Saheb Thackeray and acting president Shri Uddhav Thackeray , along with Mumbai BJP President Shri Raj Purohit and some other state level BJP leaders , devised some new strategies to thwart the freshly hatched game plan of the Congress and NCP of Sharad Pawar . Their ” KARUN DAKHWALE ” campaign was brilliant . They roped in RPI [ Republican Party of India ] headed by Shri Ram Das Athwale , in the front . So the joint strength of Shiv Sena , Bharatiya Janta Party and Republican Party of India [ SS , BJP , RPI ] fought elections unitedly and comfortably trounced the Congress and NCP front .

When results were declared , it became apparent that SS , BJP , RPI have got the maximum number of seats in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation . Though they fell short of 7 seats , still they won the BMC fort . Congress , NCP alliance came a distant second with 65 seats and MNS [ Maharashtra Navanirman Sena ] , perceived to be king – maker , was third with 28 seats in its kitty .

Out of 10 Municipal Corporations of Maharashtra , BJP and SS have won 5 . These are ; Mumbai , Thane , Ulhasnagar , Nagpur and Akola . NCP of Sharad Pawar is the clear winner in Pimpri – Chinchwad . NCP can capture Pune , Solapur and Amarawati also with the help of Congress . MNS has won maximum number of seats in Nashik . But here are some more shocker .

BJP has won more number of seats compared to Shiv Sena  in Pune , Solapur , Nagpur and Akola , BJP has outnumbered Congress also in Nagpur and Ulhasnagar and has equal number of seats in Akola . BJP has outnumbered NCP also in Nagpur , Mumbai , Solapur and Akola . In BMC BJP has won 31 seats compared to 28 in 2007 . BJP tally has improved everywhere .

Sharad Pawar , known as Maratha warrior , Maratha strongman in Marathi news papers , have bitten dust . Other so – called NCP stalwarts and strong men like Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar , R. R. Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal , both former Dy. Chief Ministers , have eggs on their faces . Supriya Sule has simply vanished from the scene .

It’s sheer luck that because of assembly elections in 5 states , Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi can not visit Maharashtra . So they have some face – saving excuses . But Congress Chief Minister Prithvi Raj Chavan , ex Shiv Sainik and former Chief Minister Narayan Rane and Mumbai Congress Chief Kripa Shankar Singh have nothing to say . So they have gone into shell . They are incommunicado and blame game has started .

In 2007 BMC elections Congress and NCP had no alliance and they fought separately . So according to some left – liberal journalists , SS and BJP won because of the division of secular votes . But in 2012 , Congress and NCP fought the elections as alliance partners and still they lost . SS and BJP have won convincingly . Now left – liberal journos have to eat crow . They have nothing to say .

Shri Nitin Gadkari and Shri Bala Saheb Thackeray can take pride that they have snatched victory from the opponents and that too against all odds . It is satisfying fact that MNS [ Maharashtra Navanirman Sena ] instead of eating into saffron votes , ate Congress , NCP votes and dealt severe blow to their nefarious designs .

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections along with 9 other civic body elections of 2012 are eye opener in real sense . It heralds saffron juggernaut and decimation of pseudo – secular forces.
