Year End Musings : Vidur Acting Institute in 2016

End of a year is the time to make plan for the coming year. But it is also the time to take into account the year gone by. People often forget this and they remain unaware of their downward slide if there are any. And thus they fail to make amends.

This is precisely the reason, I started chronicling my accomplishments and write about the year gone by. Here I am chronicling some shinning achievements of the past and also what happened to me on the career front in 2016.

2 – AD = My 40 students worked as Brand Ambassadors of various products in 2016.

3 – THEATRE = My 16 students appeared in various plays in 2016.

4 – REGIONAL FILMS = My 6 students did lead roles in regional  films in 2016.

Thus in total 91 students worked in TV, AD, THEATRE & REGIONAL FILMS. If you add 125 students of films , this number comes to a whopping  216. 01 more than 2015 .

Till date 50 Hindi films have earned 100 crore or more at the box office. Out of these 50 films, my 47 students are there in 44 films. Only ” Ghajini “, ” Holiday ” , ” Ek Villain ” , ” M. S. Dhoni : The Untold Story ” , ” Shivaay ” & ” Dangal “ are the films, which have no students of mine. In this field my success rate is unbelievably whopping 94 % .

But do check the tall claims of so-called “Best Acting Institutes of Mumbai” or “Best Acting Institutes of India”. Grill the so-called “Best Acting Trainers of Mumbai” or “Best Acting Trainers of India” and you will see through their hollow claims. Hold a second, they can even claim that they are the “Best Acting Trainers of the World”. My God ! anything is possible in the unethical world of ACTING TRAINING in India.

As an ACTING TRAINER my success rate was 40% in the year 2013 – 2014 . It jumped to 55% in 2014 – 2015. And in 2015 , it zoomed up to 62.35 % . This is unprecedented for any ACTING INSTITUTE or ACTING TRAINER across the world. I am continuously writing Vidur’s Film Diary since 7 years. And to my utter surprise I have noticed that there were no lean months ever. It never happened that a month came and there were none of my students in any of the 5 fields of entertainment, which my diary covers. In fact there were more than a dozen working students every month.

Suresh Chatwal, who died on May 28, 2016 in Mumbai, made his acting debut in the year 1969 with “Rakhi Rakhi”. He was also seen  in films like “Uphaar” [ 1971 ] , “Piya Ka Ghar” [ 1972 ] , “Mili” [ 1975 ] , “Swami” [ 1977 ] , “Saaransh” [ 1984 ] , “Phool Aur Kaante” [ 1991 ] , “Karan Arjun” [ 1995 ] , “Koyla” [ 1997 ]  , “Munna Bhai MBBS” [ 2003 ] & “Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge” [ 2010 ] . In the same year he was last seen on the big screen in “Nakshatra” [ 2010 ].

During later years of his career, he was very popular for his roles in TV serials like ” Rajni “, “Nukkad” [ 1986 – 1987 ] & “F.I.R.” [ 2013 ].

Vikas Mohan, Editor-in-chief and Printer-Publisher of Super Cinema, India’s leading film trade magazine, died in Mumbai on May 31, 2016.

Vidur’s Telly Tales – 16 : Bigg Boss Connection [ E ]

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           OCTOBER 13, 2015           01.30 A.M.

The hugely popular annual telly show Bigg Boss is here again in its 9th season. I watched the premier show on Sunday i.e. on October 11, 2015.

 

 

I found to my amazement that this season of Bigg Boss has 3 participants, who were trained by me. They are : Kishwar Merchant, Rimii Sen & Vikas Bhalla.

It is so uncanny that from Season – 1 to Season – 6, there were 2 students of mine as participants in every season.

Season – 7 had 3 students of mine as participants.

Season – 8 had the maximum students. There were 5 participants.

Now Season – 9 again has 3 students, like season 7.

There is just one regret. No student of mine were able to get the coveted title. Karishma Tanna was the only student, who became the 1st RUNNER UP in the 8th season.

Vidur’s Film Diary – March 2015

[ DECLARATION : In my film diary, since May 2014, I have started mentioning names of only those students, who respect me as their teacher and accept and regard my contribution in their journey of life. All the other students, who worked this month but are not mentioned here, are the ones, who refuse to acknowledge me in any way. I can sense their abhorrence to my personality. I am not a sweet-talker. So I know that somewhere they were rubbed the wrong way . I also feel their attachment to the people, who claim to be the re-incarnation of Constantine Stanislavsky and are sweeter than any sweet delicacy on this earth .  D. Rama Naidu :

A Telugu and Hindi film maker of repute,  Daggubati Rama Naidu died on February 18, 2015 at the age of 79.

He was the founder of Suresh Productions and has a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most films produced by an individual, having produced more than 150 films in 13 Indian languages. He also served as a member of parliament for the Bapatala constituency of Guntur District in the 13th Lok Sabha from 1999 to 2004.

In 2012, Ramanaidu was conferred with the third highest civilian award in the Republic of India, the Padma Bhushan, in recognition for his contribution to Telugu cinema . In 2009, he was conferred with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, the highest award for films in Indian cinema.

Pritam Pyaare is an old student of mine. He is very famous RJ. His programme ” Bhabhi Ka Show ” on 93.5 Red FM is very famous. Before this he worked for 98.3 Radio Mirchi also for the show ” Total Filmy “ . I met him recently. Posting his photograph also.

Though not a single student of mine has won the title till date. And I am not sure whether any one will be successful this time also ? But I am happy that till now 20 students have taken part in this hugely successful show.

Vidur’s Film Diary – January 2014

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           FEBRUARY 19, 2014   02.30 P.M.

2014 is the 25th year of my acting training career. In the Silver Jubilee year of my acting training career, I am posting …..57 th ……edition of Vidur’s Film Diary.

Month of January 2014 saw the unabated victorious march of ” Dhoom 3 “ , the highest all-time grosser of Hindi film industry. It earned 272 crores within 04 weeks and created a new record after dashing all previous box office records and finally collected 284.27 crores.

” Krrish 3 “ , a Hritik Roshan film , stands second with the All – India net collection of INR 244.92 crore in India and INR 300.00 crore worldwide . ” Chennai Express “ stands third with INR 227.13 crores .

” Jai Ho “, a Salman Khan starrer,  was released in the 4th week of January 2014 it and finally ended the long march of ” Dhoom 3 “. It is the new member of 100 crore club. It finally earned INR 110.78 crores.

The Silver Jubilee year of my acting training career is also important and significant for one more reason.  ” Jai Ho “ becomes the first ever film to have 8 students of mine in one film . DAISY SHAH , GENELIA DSOUZA , ASMIT PATEL , PULKIT SAMRAT , TULIP JOSHI , VATSAL SHETH , & VIKAS BHALL are the actors and ALVIRA AGNIHOTRI is the Costume Designer of the film .

Vidur’s Telly Tales – 13 : Bigg Boss Connection [ C ]

MUMBAI – MAHARASHTRA – INDIA           SEPTEMBER 16 , 2013           00.45 A.M.

This is my 3rd blog about my ” Bigg Boss “ connection .

This year’s ” Bigg Boss “ is starting fifteen days earlier than the previous seasons . ” Bigg Boss “ , a reality show , is based on the original Dutch ” Big Brother “ format developed by John de Mol . The show is hosted by Salman Khan.

I wrote 1st blog about ” Bigg Boss – Season 5 “ on October 04 , 2011 . I wrote 2nd blog about ” Bigg Boss “ on October 09 , 2012 , when ” Bigg Boss – Season – 6 “ started on Colors on October 07 , 2012 .

I had written that I feel extremely proud and humbled that from Season 1 to Season 6 , each season of  ” Bigg Boss “ had 2 students of mine as participants .

I can say with utmost pride and a feeling of accomplishment that till now my 12 students have participated in 6 seasons .

I just finished watching opening episode of ” Bigg Boss – Season 7 “ . I was surprised to see my 3 students in the current season of the show . They are :

Thus total number of my students , who participated in all the 7 seasons of ” Bigg Boss “ , is 15 . I am thankful to all my 15 students for making me proud .

For me it is time to rejoice . But for some it is time to start abusive campaign all over again . There are Acting Gurus in Mumbai and there are some Gaali Gurus in Mumbai . Acting Gurus train actors , who act in films and participate in big shows like ” Bigg Boss “ . Gaali Gurus hurl abuses and train students , who become brokers . They roam around in search of prey and hoodwink gullible students to take admission in the Facebook Acting School of these Gaali Gurus .

But without them life would be boring . The dull and dreary life of an Acting Guru becomes full of fun when Gaali Gurus are around with choicest cuss words . So waiting for fresh round of abuses from the Gaali Gurus of the Facebook Acting School .

Bigg Boss – Season 6 started on October 07, 2012 on Colors . When Bigg Boss – Season 5 started , I immediately posted my first blog about my Bigg Boss connection on October 04, 2011 . I have mentioned in that blog that barring Season – 5 , which has only one student Mahek Chahal , all the other seasons had two students of mine as participants . Here is the list , which I had posted at that time :

I thought , isn’t it uncanny ? Isn’t it something special ? Isn’t it unique ? Bigg Boss is hugely popular . It is eagerly awaited . All the participants become household name . And here I can say with utmost satisfaction that I have 2 students per episode . In total 12 students in 6 seasons .

Any Acting Trainer would wish that his students should be in the house . Every Acting Trainer of Mumbai and all the Acting Trainers of India dream for this kind of publicity , which is rare . Some Acting Trainers of Mumbai even make false claims . Luckily ,  as an Acting Trainer of  Bollywood , I got this on platter .

Among all the Famous Acting Classes in Mumbai or reputed Film Institutes of Mumbai , my institute Vidur’s Kreating Charakters is fortunate enough to have such a track record .

A wannabe Acting Trainer of India and few unscrupulous , shady Bollywood Acting Trainers have greeted me with cuss words on the facebook . They sent me message on the facebook so that no one else could read it . This only shows their utmost frustration . Famous Acting Class can’t be run by frustrated people . It is like meditation . You have to slog . You have to work tirelessly , relentlessly and without showing fatigue .

But anyway , it is time to rejoice . It is time to sit down and take stock of the situation . It is very satisfying moment , a humbling experience . I thank almighty for giving me such opportunities and honour .

I am thankful to all my students for making me proud .
